About Me

If you know me only through the internet and want to get to know me a little better, then I guess this page is for you.

People who know me will tell you that I'm quiet and slightly shy sometimes. Partly because that's who I am, and partly out of common sense to be careful what I post on the internet, I'm only going to tell you certain things about me. Rest assured it's all you need to know if you have not met me face to face.

If you want to know my name, just call me Ash. It is not my real name but it is my nickname and the first 3 letters out of the 5 of my first name. And no the last 2 letters are not ly. My name is strictly a guy name.

Anyway I'm 18 now and I live in the middle of nowhere in the far northern USA.

I don't really like to spend much of my time indoors, but as you can see, I do occasionally if I feel like it or the weather is not good enough to go riding in. When I'm outside, I'm usually riding a snowmobile, quad, or bike. Anyone who knows anything about me will also know that I don't just ride, I do lots of stunts like wheelies, bicycles, donuts, jumps, endos and whatever else I can come up with. If I don't do stunts and go fast, it's just not fun for me. Of course sometimes these things break down and I end up being a mechanic for a while (and actually I'm a decent mechanic). Quite often I end up being the one to keep all our small engines running whether it's a quad or a weed whacker. Other things I do outside are swimming and snorkeling, skiing, fireworks (the ones that explode), and target practice with my rifles. I also enjoy outdoor photography and video recording.

When I do have to be inside, I like to play guitar. I have been playing for a while now and own a few guitars. My first real guitar was a 2002 Ibanez S370 electric (FOR SALE $250). It's a nice guitar but now I know what things I like in a guitar so I recently bought a brand new Ibanez RG3EXFM1 electric which is perfect for me. Of course, no guitarist should be without an acoustic so I also bought a Kona K1E acoustic-electric. It's cheap but well made, great sounding and great playing. My cheap guitar that I take places I wouldn't take my others is a 2007 Squire Bullet Strat (electric). For any effect whether it's distortion, reverb, delay, chorus, tremolo, etc I use a Digitech RP55 which I highly recommend, best 50 bucks I've ever spent on music equipment (except for in the purchase of guitars). Music I like to play is mainly rock. Lately I've also been writing some of my own music.

Sometimes I resort to the computer for indoor entertainment. I don't consider myself a hacker or anything, but I'm pretty good with computers. Usually I can solve most computer problems I have. I do like working on computers however. I recently discovered that I'm great at upgrading and repairing computers (both desktops and laptops). I fixed up several laptops for my school a while ago. I like video editing as you probably noticed (I may be looking at a career doing it). I currently use Sony Vegas Pro 9 for my editing purposes, and this is my favorite editor, but I also am good with Final Cut Studio and iMovie. I like surfing through sites like Pandora, YouTube, Craigslist, and ebay, and I usually use the computer for listening to music. Music I like is pretty much anything except rap, screamo, and emo. My favorite artists are Celldweller, Nightwish and Daughtry.

I do watch a little TV but it's hard finding anything decent to watch. I don't like many shows except for Nature, Red Green, Monk and MacGyver. Movies I like are I Am Legend, The Day After Tomorrow, Vertical Limit, Eight Below, Duma, I Robot and The Core.

I don't like to spend much time at video games, but when I do play one I enjoy Metroid, Driver, Star Fox and F-Zero games. Metroid is by far my favorite series so far. I haven't bought a Wii yet (I have better things to spend 200 bucks on) so the only Metroid game I haven't played is Metroid Prime 3. At some point I will buy a Wii, and I will only buy a black one. If it wasn't for Metroid though, I wouldn't even think about buying a Wii. I may not spend much time or money gaming, but I do like doing custom console mods.
