Quads

Well if you're looking for info about my quads, it's here.

1989 Yamaha Moto-4 200 (YFM200DXW)

This is the first quad I ever had. We bought it in March 2006 for $745. It's been great-it's dependable and fun. Not exactly a sport machine, but still fun. Not exactly a utility, but I've still pulled a car and 500 pounds of bricks with it. Not a 4x4, but still gets good traction in mud and snow. It's a great first quad, but after a couple years it seemed slow to me and of course had the problem of bad suspension. Since I didn't have enough money for another quad, I did a few mods to it. I put in a UNI air fliter, chopped a muffler, gave it a recoil, and got slightly better front shocks from an 86 Moto-4 225 (thanks to 68023 for telling me to do these ( http://www.youtube.com/68023 ). I also bought Fly Racing Aluma-Steel handlebars for it, put on an LED taillight, and redesigned the headlight setup. This quad is especially great for trailblazing, wheelies and bicycles. It tops out at about 50. I've been restoring this machine slightly, and it's looking pretty good now.

2006 Baja Motorsports Wilderness Trail 250 Utility (WD250-U)

We got this machine in October 2007 I think. We won it at a drawing, but still had to pay tax which was $120. It was an okay machine, I wouldn't have got one unless we won it though. I can't really recommend it, it didn't get good traction and it was low on power. It was only 50 pounds lighter than my new 386cc Big Bear but this had a 226cc motor. Put a small chinese made engine in a good but heavy chassis and you ruin the power of the machine. I sold this quad for 1300 bucks in March of this year I believe. Sold it to buy a 4 wheel drive Yamaha.

1983 Yamaha Tri-Moto 225 (YTM225DX)

I bought this in November 2008 for 50 bucks. It's nothing but a parts machine, it was crashed in 2006 and hasn't ran since. This had the muffler that I chopped and put on my Moto-4. Currently It's engine is in the 85 Moto-4. It does not run right now, but it will run on starting fluid so it's only carb issues. This motor had no spark when I first put it in the 85 frame, but a stator swap fixed that. It also leaked like crazy so when I changed the stator I put in a new side gasket and o-ring for the shift shaft. I wonder how fast this motor will make the 85 go? 225dx's were fast as I hear.

1987 Honda 250X (TRX250X)

I bought this in December 2008 for 500 bucks. It had PowerMadd handguards, extended swingarm, and beadlock rims. It was in ok mechanical shape for the year, but cosmetically it was bad. I'm glad I had this machine because I found out how fast sport quads were and I learned that 250cc wasn't enough for me. It topped out at about 55 with the racing tires and 60 or so with the big balloon tires. I didn't do much work to it, but I did work on the front brakes, adjust the idle, powerwash it, and fix the leaking gas tank. I rolled it in January 2009 and wrecked what was left of the fenders. Still, I sold it in April 2009 for 650 bucks to FoXRIDER3361 ( http://www.youtube.com/FoXRIDER3361 ) who heard about it through YouTube. I would've kept it if I could have had the Warrior too, but I couldn't. I miss this little thing. It sure was dependable, and I liked kick start.

1985 Yamaha Moto-4 200 (YFM200N)

We bought this for $195 on March 13, 2009. I mostly wanted it for parts. I refinished the fenders and put them on my 89 Moto-4. I saved the front rack too. Currently this is sitting in the garage waiting for the rear end to be put on. Once I do that, I can put it all back together, work on the carb and then it should be in riding condition again!

1999 Yamaha Warrior 350 (YFM350X)

Well this is my pride and joy at this point. We bought this for $1,050 on May 27, 2009. Even though I hadn't sold enough stuff to cover the entire cost yet, I couldn't pass up this deal! It came with over 780 bucks of mods on it already: AC Racing Standard Nerf Bars ($150), Thor handlebar pad, 3" front wheel spacers ($70), DG Baja aluminum skid plates everywhere except on the A-Arms ($280), Pure Sports Bandit A/T rear tires ($90), FMF Megamax 2 spark arrestor slip-on pipe ($180), LSR Parking Brake block off plate ($12), ProGrip grips, and front shock covers. Now I changed out the grips for Schwinn grips ($8), painted the bumper red, put on Fly Racing Aluma-Steel bars ($23), put on 2005 Raptor 350 heel guards ($54), changed the nerfs for Tusk Competition series nerfs ($100), put on new shock covers ($15), got a UNI pod clamp on air filter ($19), and I'm jetting the carb ($10 for 2 main jets). I also have a JT 14 tooth front sprocket ($21 w/ shipping) that will add 5mph to the top speed! (yes I did the math) Recently I decided to remove the front fenders, and I also took off the bumper to repaint it (it will be painted gloss black) So I've spent $250 on it so far. I consider it set up for stunting but it'll do good for a Warrior with no motor mods in a race. Right now this is my dream quad, fast enough for me, it's dependable, has great power, it's super fun and great at stunts. It's got good suspension and does great wheelies! If you're considering buying a Warrior, stop thinking it over and go buy one!

2001 Yamaha Big Bear 400 4x4 (YFM40FNGR)

We bought this for 600 bucks on July 16, 2010. It has a Warn winch, Good Year Mud Runner tires, a rifle mount, and a 1" lift in the back. It's good mechanically and any rusting parts can be replaced. Cosmetically it looks bad. It's missing tons of parts but I got enough money to pay for them and I'll still have got a decent deal. I bought this from the original owner. It was last used in 2003 and they went through real deep water with it, so some stuff is rusting. Then it sat by a highway until I bought it and people were stealing parts off it. So far I've bought a voltage regulator, handlebar switch, ignition coil, new carb, a new key switch with 2 keys and I recently found a CDI for only $150! So far I've spent $410 on it and still have to buy more.....I've stripped this quad down to powerwash it and now I'm trying to put it back together. I've put on all the electrical stuff, painted the rusting parts of the frame and cleaned the rear fender. Soon I will be putting the new CDI in and testing it for spark once again.
